If you live in the Bay, I don't have to tell you that the best music is on the lefthand side of the dial. From KPOO 89.5 to KCSM 91.1 (there are only 8 frequencies) I can catch extreme quality music on 5 FM frequencies when I'm in my car in Oakland. That doesn't even count KPFA's nightime lineup.

You might not be able to get all (or any) of these stations where you live but if you're not familiar with them, you owe it to yourself to check them out. Most, if not all, have websites where you can stream their audio.

They're not ruled by Corporate America so they can say what they want and there are NO COMMERCIALS.

I remember when I was in high school (back in the 80's) the first place I ever heard all the newest shit out of New York or Locally was on KZSU or KALX. The first time I ever heard the Beastie Boys was on Neon Leon's KALX show. I thought it was some of the corniest shit I ever heard. Similarly, the first place I ever heard Rappin Duke and the Pee Wee Herman was on KALX. I used to have to point my antenna out towards Berkeley and then dial that frequency in until it sounded just right. (to all the kids out there: Radios used to have dials on them)

With all the choices there are in music nowadays, if the radio station you're listening to plays that song you hate every damn hour on the hour or if you listen to music for 15 minutes then are forced to listen to 10 minutes of commercials, why are you still listening?

Skip down to the left hand side of the dial and take a listen.
