Jay Electronica dished out a social media shaming to President Obama Monday (Dec. 8), for not being vocal enough in wake of the #BlackLivesMatter protests spawned by cases of police brutality.
"@barackobama you should be ashamed dog. not because you’re black, but cause you talked all that glorious s**t when you were running for pres,” the Roc Nation rapper tweeted. “Barack Obama, I know as the president of the Usa [sic] you’re just a figurehead and can’t do much but damn man. where’s your voice and nuts?”
Obama, who recently spoke with BET on the subject of racism in America and the judicial system, has faced widespread criticism over his response to the grand jury rulings in Ferguson, Mo., regarding the shooting death of 18-year-old Mike Brown and in Staten Island, N.Y., regarding the case of Eric Garner, a 43-year-old father of six put in a fatal choke hold by an NYPD officer.
Meanwhile, Electronica wasn’t just targeting the president, he tweeted at length about the threads of racism and oppression finely woven in America's fabric and the after effects. He also directly addressed the argument that Black people have been protesting the Garner and Brown cases but not Black-on-Black crime. “We live in a criminal nation, founded by rapists, mass murderers and robbers. so don't tell me about ‘black on black’ crime,” he noted.
“And don’t tell me get over it,” Electronica wrote in another tweet. “Just like you’re afraid to tell those caucasians who suffered under hitler [sic] get over it. f**k that.”
