“I look forward to the day that literally everyone is equal, so we can all get back to talking shit to each other.”
What’s Good with Stretch & Bobbito welcomed rap-game dynamic duo, Run The Jewels, to their resurgent radio program this morning.
The 30-minute interview finds Killer Mike and El-P, rappers from wildly different pockets of hip-hop’s map with equal footing in their region’s underground, recounting their respective come-ups and pinpointing the precise origin of their collaborative moniker (the faded closing line of LL Cool J’s “Cheesy Rat Blues,”) and reflect on the maturation of hip-hop, culturally and through their own personal accounts of growing up in mid-90s boys club hip-hop.
Run The Jewels follow Stevie Wonder, Dave Chappelle, Chance The Rapper as guests on the revealing and reformatted Stretch & Bobbito-hosted interview series. They’ll be doing it live and direct at Brooklyn’s Bell House on September 7th and 8th. Tickets are available here.
Hear Run The Jewels run through their unlikely ascent on What’s Good with Stretch & Bobbito below and stay tuned for the next episode.
